|quite moments in the mornings at the kijaro house|
it is a very exciting week ahead in the kijaro house. with a number of things ahead its going to be all systems go. with amy and i both coming down with the flu this weekend it has been a tough couple of days fighting the urge to do things in preparation for the exciting events ahead and physically not being able to stand for too long before my eyes close and tell me to sleep. i have never been one to cope well with being sick, tending to fight my way through it with all cylinders firing (or wishing they were). but this weekend has proved to me that sometimes you have to give in and stop, after a spot of treasure hunting (of course!) to try and make you feel just a bit better.
|some of the loot from yesterdays treasure hunting adventure.|
anyway, enough of that i seriously cant wait to share with you the 2 exciting events that are happening next week!!!
firstly we have our twilight vintage treasure hunt on Thursday night and we are joining forces with Julie from vintage for the minx. we have a wonderful selection of vintage available from sheets, furniture, bags, clothes, crockery, fabric, artwork, lamps and who knows what else! if you missed the pop up shop why not come along and have a glass of wine, a bite of cheese and come and have a chat! also if you do have someone who you think might like to come along, why not make a night of it, the more the merrier. don't forget that basket to fill up with vintage goodies on the night. we will have both cash and eft available so we are covering all bases.
also its my birthday next weekend and plans have been put in place for a high tea followed by a cocktail pyjama party on saturday. i have been working pinterest like crazy, especially since i have been bailed up on the couch this week. you can check out the party planning inspiration board here. i am going for a lolly bar and sweet station and have been window shopping online for a glass drink dispenser and a lot of other things that i really don't need but would love! i have been fossicking around the house this weekend to find jars, bottles, cake plates and other treasures bunting, ribbon, signs, tea cups and other splendid things to use on the table. i think lolly shopping is on the books this week as well.
i hope you have a great week and i hope to see some of you at the twilight treasure hunt on thursday!

Doing a little research this morning and stumbled across this cute little idea from the guys at the Good Night Lamp team. Isn't it just a simple but effective way of sharing your presence with someone special who is on the other side of the world. Who would your give a Good Night Lamp too?
I don't know about you but here at kijaro we are constantly looking for inspiration. While there are many many avenues that you might look to get those creative juices flowing there always seems to be a couple of sources that just shine. One of those shinning stars in our world is none other than Miss Laura from Kit and Nancy, who we are lucky enough to call one of our vintage loving friends. (There has been many an op-shopping adventure, and one mighty kerbsiding trip, but thats for another day)
This lovely young lady never ever ceases to amaze us. She is a lady that is true to her heart, her thoughts, her friends and her passions. She never takes a decision lightly if it might go against any of the previous mentioned things. She is an op shopping fiend, quite like myself (but this op shopping behaviour has slowed quite considerably, with love strings calling her to Europe in March but you can read more about that on her blog), and just has a way with vintage florals and patterns. She just has an eye I tell you!
Laura and her wonderful blog and instagram (@kitandnancy), literally just see the world through rose coloured glasses and everything can be framed, photographed or filed for inspiration. She sees beauty in this world where others just can't seem too. And it is for these reasons that we really thing you should head over and check out her lovely world, thats of course if you haven't already heard of her. I assure you if you love vintage, patterns, art, and all things beautiful you will just love this ladies work.... Oh!!! and also if baked goods are you thing, this woman has the ombre cake practiced to perfection. And wallpaper I can't forget wallpaper.
Also I must add before I really should head to work, that she is taking part in an exhibition on the 1st of September with a bunch of other equally as incredible artists called Reframed at the White Canvas Gallery in the Valley. Don't miss this chance to pick up your very own Kit and Nancy artwork before she follows her calling to Europe.
After weeks and weeks of being out and about all week and weekend, I decided that this weekend would be one spent at home tinkering away. Although we headed out yesterday for the Brisstyle Seminar on Selling Online we have done just that, and it has been delightful.
Yesterday Miss Amy and I headed along to the Kedron Library, with many familiar faces, to listen to people in the know such as Kirsten from Each to Own and Jess Van Den from Epheriell Designs / Bespoke Zine and many more about the dos and donts about selling online. It was so lovely to hear other peoples experiences and also hear what they had to say about being a tadpole in a very VERY large ocean. It think the most inspiring thing that I took away was their advice to just do it.... stop being concerned about your photographs, or anything else for that matter and just jump in. As one of the speakers said, your style will develop and your photographs will get better but its just about taking that first step. (I can recommend the Brisstyle seminars, you should head over and check them out. But be sure to register).
And that is exactly what I'm doing with the wonderful help of one Miss Amy Melksham. Not being one for computer, technology things, Amy has been so wonderful in helping me getting set up with a new website, logo, and all that jazz, (If you are looking for some help in the design world, she is defiantly your lady to talk to) ready for tonights launch of our new Facebook page, Kijaro. We have been busy this weekend photographing things ready for our 7pm vintage sale. It will be the place to be so be sure to head over to our Facebook page to see what treasure we will have.
I can't wait to see you all there. I hope you have all had a wonderful weekend op shopping, marketing and garage sale-ing, we would love to see what you all picked up.
I best be off now to get ready for 7pm tonight. But I will leave you with a few instagram photos from our day yesterday.
